IISM Convocation Day 2024: Stepping Into The World Of Sports Business
Finally, the day came.
IISM Convocation Day 2024 depicted nothing less than an amalgam of cheer, excitement, and happiness of achievement. It’s time to celebrate the achievement of the first milestone and embark on a new journey. IISM congratulated all the students of BSM, MSM & PGPSM as they all completed their courses and passed with flying colours. A new door to a world of opportunities opened to them.
On the convocation day, the students were all smiles, and their parents couldn’t feel prouder for their children.
To ignite their spirit, Olympic Champion Shri Abhinav Bindra– our Chief Guest of the day, and our Guest of Honor, Indian Cricketer Shri Piyush Chawla were there. As much as their presence graced the events, their wise words kindled their minds.
Words by the Olympic Champion to the Future Sports Leaders:
You can expect wonderful advice when Abhinav Bindra is on the podium. As our students headed on making a future in the world for themselves, he shared a few pieces of motivation.
“The journey isn’t about achieving your goals, it’s about the connections you make along the way”. True indeed. Further, he added, chasing results won’t lead you anywhere, rather one should choose kindness to make a place at everyone’s heart. His powerful messages ignited the youth, encouraging them to pursue their dreams with everything they’ve got.
Piyush Chawla’s Message:
Our guest of honor Indian Cricketer Piyush Chawla shared his ‘secret to success’ with the students. “It’s not just talent, but discipline that separates champions from the rest.” He took the example of our Former Indian Cricketer & IISM’s Founder Director, Mr. Nilesh Kulkarni, and stated that learning sports studies directly from a Champion was an added advantage to their sports business career. Later, he wished the best for their future.

Convocation Day is the perfect occasion to share narratives. Our founding director Nilesh Kulkarni shared his proud moments with us of receiving ‘Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Puruskar’ from the former President of India, Ram Nath Kovind ji. But he felt proudest when he got escorted by two Govt. personnel who were IISM alumni themselves. A narrative that inspired the successors of IISM the most.
Mr Kulkarni himself was an Indian cricketer in his time, and he believes that being in the sports industry makes you spirited and courageous. He added that failure is the stepping stone to achieving success in life. Further, he congratulated the students and parents as the future leaders of sports are on to conquering the world.
About the Launch of the New Courses:
The convocation day unfolded a new chapter of IISM.
In partnership with Abhinav Bindra, IISM has launched two courses, Advanced Certification on Health, Wellness & Entrepreneurship (HWE) and Certification on Innovation & Sports Entrepreneurship (ISE). As Mr.Kulkarni already asserted that IISM aims for a bigger landscape in the sports academia, creating more opportunities to excel in the sports business domain for the youth.

Without our students and alumni, the journey of IISM wouldn’t be this exemplary.
Chetna Gullia, our PGP Alumnus called her time at IISM a joyride. According to her, the learning experience here is beyond classroom lectures & insights, it was a real-life involvement that led her to land her venture in the sports business.
Also, our MSM student, Saachi Gramopadhye shared her enriching experience when she got the opportunity to work at the National Games. Attending classrooms and sports events let her understand the intricacies of the sports business.
While the students created memories at IISM, they’ve left with insights and confidence that will help build a shining future for them. All hard work will pay off as each one has the potential to rise & conquer. IISM takes faith that the future of business sports is in great hands.
